[:de]Die meisten von uns Puppenmacherinnen sind ein-Frau-Unternehmen.
Wir arbeiten meist von zu Hause aus, wo wir uns eine kleine Werkstatt, ein Atelier eingerichtet haben und unserer Leidenschaft für Puppenmachen professionell nachgehen. Weil wir gar nicht anders können.

Alles drumherum ist im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes Handarbeit und wird alleine gestemmt. Professionelle Puppenmacherei bedeutet nämlich nicht nur schöne Puppen und Kleidchen nähen, sondern eben beispielsweise oft auch Buchhaltung, Inventur, Einkauf, Kalkulation, Rechnungen schreiben/zahlen, das Einhalten von Spielzeugsicherheitsrichtlinien und Qualitätsmanagement im eigenen Nähstübchen. Auch Webdesign, Fotografie, Netzwerken und Social Media Marketing sollte zu den “skills” gehören, die man besitzen oder sich aneignen sollte.
Darüberhinaus muss man natürlich das eigenen (Kunst-)Handwerk beherrschen, möchte sich stets kreativ weiterentwickeln und trotz all der anderen Aufgaben und bürokratischen Hürden, so zumindest den Kompromiss aus der eigenen Kreativität und den behördlichen Vorgaben finden.

Da ist es nicht verwunderlich, wenn die ein oder andere von einem anderen Weg träumt, von etwas größerem. Wurde doch bereites bewiesen, man kann mit handgemachten Puppen aus natürlichen Materialien durchaus auch im Großen erfolgreich sein kann.

Daher habe ich mich sehr gefreut, als ich erfuhr, dass meine talentierte Kollegin Maria Asenova von “Marias Nature Toys“, den Weg zu gehen gewagt und sich damit auf eine spannende Reise begeben hat…:

Maria, die ursprünglich Psychologin werden wollte, um so den Menschen zu helfen, merkte schnell, dass sie dank ihrer lebhaften Phantasie und in der steten Weigerung Erwachsen zu werden, eine besondere Gabe besaß. Ihre Leidenschaft zu Kunst und handgemachten Puppen ließ sie nämlich einfach nicht los und so wurde das Puppenmachen ihre Bestimmung und Erfüllung.

Aber eine Puppenmacherin hat auch nur zwei Hände und kann, ist sie so talentiert und gefragt wie Maria, leider irgendwann nicht mehr alle Wünsche ihrer Puppenliebhaber erfüllen. Zwar gibt es immer wieder freie Plätze im Auftragsbuch, doch ist dies mit teils langen Wartezeiten verbunden. Denn handgemachte Puppen sind eben genau das: handgemacht. Und das braucht, auch wenn man geübt ist und seine Arbeitsabläufe optimiert, einfach seine Zeit. Jede Puppe wird mit Sorgfalt individuell genäht und ist so zumeist nicht weniger als ein eigenes Kunstwerk.

Mittlerweile wissen viele Menschen handgemachte Puppen zu schätzen und die Nachfrage steigt.
So hatte auch Maria viele Anfragen. Ein besonsders hartnäckiger Fan ihrer Arbeit war Denitza Velasquez. Sie wollte sich nicht mit den langen Wartezeiten für eine Puppe abfinden und ihrer Tochter am liebsten ganz viele von Marias Puppen zum Spielen schenken.
Da sie zwar durch ihr Studium der freien Künste und Spanisch Geduld gelernt hatte, wollte sie es doch gleichzeitig nicht hinnehmen, auf mehr von Marias Puppen warten zu müssen.
Denitza beschloss sich ihren Masters of Entrepreneurship zunutze zu machen und schrieb Maria einen lagen Brief, indem sie ihr eine damals gewagten Idee antrug.

Sie schlug Maria eine Geschäftspartnerschaft vor: Die Idee dahinter war, mehr Kindern die Möglichkeit zu bieten, so eine wunderbare Puppe besitzen zu können.
Und Maria war schließlich mutig genug, zusammen mit Denitza das Abenteuer zu wagen und ein eigenes Unternehmen zu gründen, um dies möglich zu machen – Somit war “Ciao Bimba” geboren.

Mittlerweile ist dieser Fan eine Freundin und Marias Geschäftspartnerin geworden.
Das letzte Jahr arbeiteten beide fieberhaft daran, ihren großen Traum wahr werden zu lassen: suchten die richtigen Räumlichkeiten, stellten ein Team zusammen, welches die Puppen auch weiterhin von Hand fertigt, wählten Lieferanten aus, kümmerten sich um Lizenzen und erstellten eine Website.

Sie hatten das Glück eine Gruppe aus 15 enthusiastischen Müttern und Großmüttern zu finden, die von Maria lernten Puppen aus natürlichen Materialien nach ihren Entwürfen zu fertigen.
Dabei soll jede Puppe, die so unter den aufmerksamen und geschulten Händen entsteht, Marias einzigartigen Zauber, der all ihren Puppen eigen ist, besitzen und somit die Herzen der Kinder  berühren.

Auch wenn “Ciao Bimba” kein ein-Frau-Unternehmen ist, so wird doch wert gelegt auf Handarbeit, Sorgfalt und vor allem darauf, ausschließlich natürliche Materialien für die Puppen zu verwenden. Angtrieben vom Wissen darum, dass die Materialität das Spiel der Kinder beeinflusst, indem sie ihre Kreativität anregt sowie ihren Sinn für Ästhetik prägt.

Maria wird weiterhin ihre Sammlerpuppen machen, gleichzeitig aber auch als Puppendesignerin für ihr Unternehmen “Ciao Bimba” tätig sein.
Ein Traum ist damit für die Puppenmacherin und Künstlerin wahr geworden.
Viele Kinder auf der ganzen Welt haben nun die Möglichkeit in einer von Maria entworfenen Puppe einen treuen Begleiter und Freund zu finden.
Eine Traum, den vielleicht die ein oder andere von uns auch selbst auch nachfühlen kann.
Ich hoffe daher, dass Maria und Denitza mit “Ciao Bimba” erfolgreich sind, ihre Puppen und die Liebe zu diesen wunderbaren Geschöpfen in die Welt hinaustragen werden.

Als ich von Marias und Geschichte hörte wurde mir wieder klar, wie wichtig es ist, dass wir Frauen etwas wagen, wenn es unser Wunsch ist und sich die Möglichkeit bietet. Unseren Traum verfolgen, hartnäckig sind. Uns trauen den Schritt zu tun aus dem Kleinen ins Große. Wir sollten es uns zutrauen mit der eigenen Idee die Welt zu erobern. Sie mit handgemachten Puppen zu erobern.
Daher ist es auch so wichtig, das wir uns als Frauen bzw. Puppenmacherinnen gegenseitig unterstützen. Wir sollten uns gegenseitig ermutigen, voneinander lernen, uns füreinander freuen. Ein Vorbild sein für unsere Töchter.

[:en]Most of us doll makers are a one-woman company.
We usually work from home, where we have set up a small studio to professionally pursue our passion. Because we just can’t help it.

All evolving around the dollmaking is in the truest sense of the word handmade and therefore is mostly done with our hands. By ourselves.
Professional dollmaking does not only mean sewing beautiful dolls and dresses, but also and more often means accounting, inventory, finding the right suppliers for the natural materials the dolls call for, calculation, invoicing process, adherence to toy safety guidelines and quality management.
Web design, photography, networking and social media marketing should also be one of the “skills” you should own or adopt. In addition, of course, you have to master your own (art)craft, always wanting to let ones creativity thrive and, despite all the other tasks and bureaucratic hurdles, find at least the compromise of ones own creativity and official guidelines.

So it’s not too surprising if one or the other dreams of another way, wanting something bigger. It has been proven that handmade dolls made of natural materials can be successful.

Therefore, I was very happy when I learned that my talented colleague Maria Asenova, of “Marias Nature Toys“, dared to go the way and thus went on an exciting journey:
Maria, who originally wanted to become a psychologist to be able to help people, quickly realized that she had a special gift because of her vivid imagination and the constant refusal to grow up. Her passion for art and handmade dolls simply did not let go of her, so doll making was her destiny and fulfillment.

But a dollmaking artist only having two hands, 24 hours in a day and being as talented and demanded as Maria, can not fulfill all the demands of her doll lovers for more dolls.
Although there are always free custom spots, waiting times for a doll are long.
Handmade dolls are precisely this: handmade. And it takes time, even if one is practiced and optimizes all work processes. After all each doll is individually sewn with care and is usually nothing less than a work of art.

Meanwhile, many people appreciate handmade dolls and demand is increasing.
Maria as a dollmaker had many inquiries. A particularly persistent fan of her work was Denitza Velasquez. She did not want to settle for the long waiting times for a doll and wanted to give her daughter a lot more of Maria’s dolls to play with.
While she had learned patience through her studies of liberal arts and Spanish, she was still persistent. Denitza decided to make use of her Masters of Entrepreneurship and wrote a letter to Maria sharing her bold idea and giving her a daring proposal.

She suggested a business partnership to Maria: the idea behind it being able to offer the opportunity to call such a wonderful handmade doll their own to more children.
And finally, Maria having found the perfect partner in Denitza was brave enough to dare going big and the two started their own business – “Ciao Bimba” was born.

So meanwhile this fan has become a friend and Maria’s business partner.
The last year, both worked feverishly to make their dream come true: they searched for the right location, found a team to handcraft the dolls, sorted suppliers, acquired licenses and built a website.
They were lucky enough to find a group of fifteen enthusiastic mothers and grandmothers
who shared their enthusiasm and were eager to learn how to make natural fiber dolls for children. Maria put all her energy and love into sharing her knowledge with them.
Each doll, which is created under these attentive and trained hands, possess the unique charm which is characteristic for all dolls by Maria, and thus will touch the childrens hearts.

Even if “Ciao Bimba” is not a one-woman-company, the dolls are still handmade with great care and using only natural materials for the dolls. Driven by the knowledge that materiality influences children’s play by stimulating their creativity and shaping their sense of aesthetics.

Maria will continue to make her collectors’ dolls, but at the same time work as a doll designer for her company “Ciao Bimba“.
A dream came true for the doll maker and artist. Kids around the world now have the opportunity to find a faithful companion and friend in a “Ciao Bimba” doll designed by Maria.
A dream maybe one or the other of us can also relate to.
I hope Maria and Denitza will be successful with ” Ciao Bimba ” carrying the love for handmade natural dolls out into the world.

Therefore we being women, dollmakers, doll lovers sharing one passion, should support one another. We should learn from each other, rejoice the others achievements and be appreciative.
